PREM BABA SEES PANDEMIC AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO RECONNECT WITH LIFE

September 14, 2020

Prem Baba, how do you see the NEW CORONAVIRUS, which is killing thousands of people and throwing the economy into the worst recession since the second war?

A: I see this PANDEMIC as a world war. However, it’s a war between us and ourselves. It’s a great challenge, an opportunity to awaken. As painful as it is, it’s a gift, an element of a consciousness revolution. It’s challenging our conditioning and beliefs. Right now, we are being forced to isolate and stay with ourselves, with our family at home, reviewing choices and decisions. Who knows, maybe from then on we will promote changes that favor our evolution and the peace that we so much long for; changes that allow us to review our needs.

Why are we suffering from this crisis, Prem Baba?

A: What we experience is a mirror of how we are. We are the reality we want, we have the future in our hands. We are living the beginning of a planetary transition that is bringing great purification and a possibility for transformation. If we want a different result, we have to change something in our life, in our habits, in our behaviors, in the way we choose to live life. It’s an invitation to open our eyes and see reality in a more objective way. Because it would be a great waste if, after this great suffering, we remained the same.

Prem Baba, does awareness lead to this possibility of transformation?

A: I feel that this NEW CORONAVIRUS is an important element within the consciousness revolution. The basic element of this revolution is the process of expanding consciousness. The goal is to get to know yourself and face your inner demons. We have a very limited perception of reality because we are hostages of mental conditioning. This state of identification with the mind is like a prison. And it is only possible to break free when we recognize that we are prisoners.

How can the pandemic help us to become aware, Prem Baba?

A: The NEW CORONAVIRUS is making us aware of our slavery to fear. The truth is often a bitter medicine, but a healing one. We are in some degree accessing the truth. I understand that the truth sets us free. This medicine can be an important ingredient in this revolution of consciousness. It happens through self-knowledge, which, in turn, begins with the awareness of who you believe to be and where you believe you are. This awareness is often shocking. When we start to realize that we put ourselves in prison and that we don’t know how to open the cell door, it’s very uncomfortable. When you discover that the mind uses you and you don’t use it, that you try at all costs to get rid of the conditioned mind and you can’t, it can be terrifying. The first glimpse of the truth many times deepens us into our fragility. And it’s only the beginning of self-discovery.

Prem Baba, can you explain what the process of self-knowledge is like?

A: You get in touch with the layers that cover the truth of who you are and that are tied to a psychological time. These layers or masks are formed by the experiences of the past and by our imaginations regarding the future. This unveiling process allows the masks to fall off and, little by little, you will get used to the light of the present moment. And then, you learn to relax in the light without wanting to change anything. You get closer to the nature around you and to your own nature. You start to live. This is the transcendence of death. Because in this state of awareness, you realize that death is just a wrapper of life. We turn on the light when we recognize that we are in the dark. As painful as it may be, however bitter this REMEDY is, it’s necessary in order for us to reconnect with life.

Prem Baba, when you say that we are not used to the light of the present, do you mean that we live attached to the past?

A: Our entire system is at the service of fear, which uses the flow of psychological time programmed in our DNA to be maintained. Realize that the prison officer is fear and the entire system takes us deeper into prison. Increasingly attached to matter and hostages of the fear of scarcity, sexually repressed, and prevented from relaxing in the ecstasy of the present moment. The past, in fact, are just memories. And we are tied to it, dreaming those memories and assuming that’s what life is. Memories that project a future that we also believe to be life. But that is not it. They are just fantasies, imagination. We live a dream, a big mistake, it’s not real.

But Prem Baba, how does this happen, how to get out of the dream?

A: It’s rare those who awaken. Only the present exists. Only in the present moment that life lies. Only when you allow yourself to be in tune with life in the present moment do you taste the freedom and simplicity of living. The present moment represents a break in this psychological flow of time. It’s where you can taste existence. Or, if you prefer, God. Or yet, reality.

What’s the way to connect with the present, Prem Baba?

A: Today, our entire system leads us to sleep and dream. All of our neural networks lead us to repeat the patterns. This, at some point, needs to be broken, the evolutionary leap is synonymous with deconditioning. The new stage happens when we learn to use the mind. The mind identified with the flow of time makes you believe that you need a lot to achieve a different future. This makes life complex and absolutely unreal. What do you really need to be happy? What do you need to have peace? To live in simplicity is to put yourself in the present. From moment to moment. For that, renunciation and detachment on a deep level are necessary.

How to live simplicity, Prem Baba?

A: All this experience that we are living in this cycle of time is a bitter REMEDY to provide renunciation and detachment. I see life for, not against, however difficult it may be sometimes. Who likes bitter REMEDY? Who likes to renovate the house while inside the house? No one, I guess. We are having the chance to renovate the house, if we have that flexibility. We have the ability to adapt and soon we will have a better home. What is this revolution of consciousness but an intimate reform?
